Le Poinçonnet: with the American City restaurant, the USA comes to the Forum

Julie and Thierry Favier come straight from Dijon (Côte-d’Or). The couple who will be governing the Forum’s American City isn’t new to the Indre. Indeed, they were the managers of the restaurant La Manufacture, in the Colbert Center, in Châteauroux, for several years. “We wanted to return to Berry. We were looking for a space large enough to house our project. We jumped at the opportunity …” It opened in September 2022. Julie Favier and her spouse are now adjusting the details of decorating their establishment and setting it up for opening this Saturday, four months later.

“100% American Home Cooking”

“American City” is the concept. It’s a refreshing change of scenery. The decor is inspired by American restaurants. The chairs, made by Berry Sellerie in particular, look exactly like those in the USA. We offer American cuisine with 100% home cooking. For some of their preparations, the restaurant’s cooks will work with products from Autissier Bakery, Elnour Butchery and Jacquin Cheese Factory, “which supplies us with the Valençay cheese we use in our local burger, the Berrichon!” Notable: The American City brand’s burger special, the Hot Lobster, will feature Canadian lobster. Hot Cat, a hot cat dessert made with hazelnut spread will be our signature.
Six people will be working in the establishment to ensure customer satisfaction. The establishment will include a game room with custom-made pool tables, arcade and dart games, as well as a dart board that connects to the rest of the world. The back of the restaurant has a stage that can be used by anyone. Yes, it will be open to all. We are hoping that musicians and bands will contact the venue to play there.”

“For people coming out the Gaston-Petit Stadium”

The last thing to note about the place is its opening hours. “We will close on Monday evening and Tuesday night. We will be open the rest of the day from 11:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. on Sundays. We hope we can fill in some of these hours, especially for people who are coming out of Gaston-Petit Stadium after the Berrichonne games.
